The Frances Foundation has concluded another successful year of its annual Helping Hands Program, impacting the lives of local children and families in need during the holiday season. Despite facing a significant dip in contributions compared to last year, the foundation remained steadfast in its mission to provide support and bring joy to those in need.

This year, the foundation took a new approach by dedicating the majority of resources to a single family with extraordinary needs while continuing to assist children and families across the community.

Supporting a Family Through Unimaginable Challenges

The foundation identified a family grappling with a heartbreaking challenge: their 17-year-old daughter was recently diagnosed with leukemia. To support the family during this difficult time, the Frances Foundation allocated approximately $2,500 to cover housing costs, transportation, and meals throughout December. This assistance allowed the family to stay together and focus on providing care and emotional support for their daughter.

Heather Fox, co-founder and COO of the Frances Foundation, who leads the Helping Hands Program, emphasized the importance of tailoring their efforts to meet significant needs. “By focusing on this family, we were able to offer them the stability and togetherness they needed during such a challenging time. This was a new approach for us, and it’s something we hope to build upon,” Fox said.

Blessing 15 Children Through Community Giving

In addition to supporting the family with an ailing daughter, the foundation continued its tradition of helping local children during the holiday season. They created Amazon wishlists for 15 children, inviting local communities to participate in the spirit of giving. For any wishlist needs unmet by the community, the foundation stepped in to cover the remaining costs with their funds.

The program also partnered with a local school to provide over 30 hygiene kits for students in need, addressing an often-overlooked necessity for young learners.

Overcoming Challenges Through Partnerships

The foundation’s efforts were made possible thanks to the generosity of donors and the support of community organizations, including the Taylorsville Moose Lodge. Despite a decrease in overall contributions this year, the foundation expressed deep gratitude for every donation, wishlist purchase, and act of support.

“The support we received—no matter the size—helped us make a difference in the lives of children and families,” said Fox. “We’re incredibly thankful to everyone who stepped forward during these uncertain times.”

Looking Ahead

As the Frances Foundation reflects on the success of this year’s program, the organization remains committed to adapting its efforts to meet the evolving needs of the community. The lives of countless children and families were touched by the Helping Hands Program, and the foundation looks forward to continuing its mission of spreading hope and compassion in the years to come.
